We all are aware that Allah SWT loves His creation so much and it is mentioned that He loves us more than 70 mothers. Despite all our sins, He always waits for us to return, repent and sincerely ask forgiveness. Under this post, we are mentioning some of the good deeds that remove your sins you have done entire life.
The Holy Quran and Repentance
There are several verses in the Holy Quran focusing on the aspect of repentance even after doing sins equal to the size of the sea.
In the holy Quran Allah SWT said:
Say (on My behalf), “O servants of Mine who have acted recklessly against their own selves, do not despair of Allah’s mercy. Surely, Allah will forgive all sins. Surely, He is the One who is the Most-Forgiving, the Very-Merciful.
(Zumar; 53)
Another verse in Surah Aal Imran states:
And those who, when they happen to commit a shameful act or wrong themselves, remember Allah, then, seek forgiveness for their sins -and who is there to forgive sins except Allah?-and do not persist in what they have done, knowingly.
(Aal Imran: 135)
Surely, Allah does not forgive that a partner is ascribed to Him, and forgives anything short of that for whomsoever He wills. Whoever ascribes a partner to Allah has indeed gone far astray.
(Nisa: 116)
So I said, Pray to your Lord for your forgiveness, – Indeed He is Very-Forgiving.
(Surah Nooh: 10)
Whoever acts evil or wrongs himself, then seeks forgiveness from Allah, shall find Allah Most Forgiving, Very-Merciful.
(Nisaa: 110)
Perform good deeds to remove your sins (in the light of Hadiths)
Like the verses of the Holy Quran are encouraging us to seek forgiveness, there are some of the Hadiths mentioning the deeds that remove your sins and please the Creator. Indeed, these good deeds remove the sins and bring us closer to the Almighty Allah.
1. Listen to Adhan and Remember Allah
Our Holy Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم said;
“Whoever says, when he hears the adhan: And I bear witness that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, Him Alone without any partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger: I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion and with Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as my Prophet. His sins will be forgiven.”
(Muslim)
How amazing it is to see that even just by hearing Adhan and remembering Allah, we will be forgiven and come closer to Him and this is one of the greatest blessings.
2. Making Wwudu wipes off your sins
Uthman ibn Affan reported:
The Messenger of Allah, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever performs ablution in an excellent manner, then his sins will depart from his body even from beneath his fingernails.”
3. Perform five prayers
It is reported by Abu Huraira:
The Messenger of Allah, peace, and blessings be upon him, said, “If there was a river at your door and he took a bath in it five times a day, would you notice any dirt on him?” They said, “Not a trace of dirt would be left.” The Prophet said, “That is the parable of the five prayers by which Allah removes sins.”
Shahih Bukhari 505, Shahih Muslim 667
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (SAW) said,
“A man’s Salat in congregation is twenty-five times more rewarding than his Salat at home or in his shop, and that is because when he performs his Wudu’ properly and proceeds towards the mosque with the purpose of performing Salat in a congregation, he does not take a step without being raised a degree (in rank) for it and having a sin remitted for it, till he enters the mosque. When he is performing Salat, the angels continue to invoke the Blessings of Allah on him as long as he is in his place of worship in a state of Wudu’. They say: `O Allah! Have mercy on him! O, Allah! Forgive him.’ He is deemed to be engaged in Salat as long as he waits for it.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]
Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
The five (daily) prayers and from one Friday prayer to the (next) Friday prayer, and from Ramadhan to Ramadhan are expiations for the (sins) committed in between (their intervals) provided one shuns the major sins.
4. Perform night prayer and do Isteghfaar
Abu Huraira narrates that Allah’s Apostle said,
“When it is the last third of the night, our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, descends every night to the heaven of the world and says, ‘Is there anyone who invokes Me (demand anything from Me), that I may respond to his invocation; is there anyone who asks Me for something that I may give (it to) him; is there anyone who asks My forgiveness that I may forgive him?”
(Sahih Al Bukhari: 8.333)
5. Do more sadaqah
Sadqah is a protection from all the harms and calamities that is written in your future. It is one of the best spurces to bring you closer to Almighty Allah by helping His creation. The afflictions caused for a man by his wife, money, children, and neighbor are expiated by his prayers, fasting, charity, and by enjoining (what is good) and forbidding (what is evil).
6. Act on etiquette of Friday
Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“If a man takes bath on Friday, cleans himself as much as he can, oils his hair, applies perfume available in his house, sets forth for the mosque, does not separate two people (to make a seat for himself), performs as many Prayers as written [by Allah] for him, remains silent when the Imam speaks, his sins between that Friday and the following Friday will be forgiven.”
(Al-Bukhari).
7. Fasting in Ramadan
The Prophet (ﷺ) said,
” Whoever fasts in the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven.”
8. Prayers in Ramadan and search night of Al Qadr
Whoever established prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven. The Prophet (ﷺ) said,
“Whoever established prayers on the night of Qadr out of sincere faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven.
9. Do more azkar (Praising Allah SWT)
From Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said,
“Whoever says, ‘Glory be to Allah and with His praise’ (Subhana’llah wa bi-hamdihi) one hundred times in a day will have his wrong actions taken away from him, even if they are as abundant as the foam on the sea.”
10. Keep fasts on the 9th & 10th Muharram (‘Aashura)
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “Fast the Day of Ashura, for indeed I anticipate that Allah will forgive (the sins of) the year before it.”
11. Perform Umrah sincerely
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “(The performance of) ‘Umrah is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the previous ‘Umrah; and the reward of Hajj Mabrur (i.e., one accepted) is nothing but Jannah.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
12. Perform Hajj (Pilgrimage)
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Whoever performs Hajj (pilgrimage) and does not have sexual relations (with his wife), nor commits sin, nor disputes unjustly (during Hajj), then he returns from Hajj as pure and free from sins as on the day on which his mother gave birth to him.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].
13. Standing at Arafah
‘A’isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
There is no day when God sets free more servants from Hell than the Day of ‘Arafa. He draws near, then praises them to the angels, saying: What do these want?
14. Fasting on the day of Arafah
It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:
“Fasting on the Day of ‘Arafah, I hope from Allah, expiates for the sins of the year before and the year after.”
15. Fever is a source of wiping out sins
Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) visited Umm Sa’ib (or Umm Musaiyyab) and asked her, “What ails you O Umm Sa’ib (or Umm Musaiyyab)? You are shivering.” She replied: “It is a fever, may Allah not bless it!” He said to her, “Do not revile fever, for it cleanses out the sins of the sons of Adam in the same way that a furnace removes the dirt of iron.”
[Muslim]
16. Diseases, grieves, sorrows remove your sins
Abu Sa’id and Abu Huraira reported that they heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
Never a believer is stricken with a discomfort, hardship or illness, grief, or even with mental worry that his sins are not expiated for him.
‘A’isha reported Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:
A believer does not undergo (the trouble) of running a thorn or more than that when Allah effaces his sins.
17. Dhikr in a gathering
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Whoever sits in a gathering and indulges in useless talk and before getting up supplicates: ‘Subhanaka Allahumma wa bihamdika, ash-hadu an la ilaha illa Anta, astaghfiruka wa atubu ilaika (O Allah, You are free from every imperfection; praise be to You. I testify that there is no true god except You; I ask Your Pardon and turn to You in repentance),’ he will be forgiven for (the sins he may have intentionally or unintentionally committed) in that assembly.”
