Oppression

Oppression is called as Ẓulm that is an Arabic word. Its literal meaning is torture or injustice. In the broader prospect, oppression means to oppress someone unjustly physically, mentally, financially, or in any other way.

For quite a long span of time, Palestinians are facing a great amount of oppression by Israel. Every other day, thousands of innocent lives are killed without any specific reason. Humanity is crying seeing the shedding of blood incessantly.

Oppression or Ẓulm is a social disorder and in the country of Palestine, it has taken a huge shape in the whole state. Allah (SWT) forbids to do zulm as the zaalim (oppressors) go to their downfall and destruction by doing injustice to others.

Oppression

Oppression and its punishment in the Holy Quran

Allah (SWT) has described every life topic in detail in the Noble book, The Holy Quran. So oppression is mentioned in the Quran as well several times. Oppression is the root cause of society’s barbarism and brings an unjust attitude to the state.

Allah said,
“Corruption has appeared throughout the land and sea by [reason of] what the hands of people have earned so He may let them taste part of [the consequence of] what they have done that perhaps they will return [to righteousness].”

(Surat Ar-Rum, verse 41)

In different verses of the Holy Qur’an, Allah warns mankind about injustice and its consequences. Allah says,

“And those who have wronged are going to know what [kind of] return they will be returned.”

(Surat Ash-Shu’ara, verse 227)

Opression and harm of injustice in Hadiths

It is a great injustice to demolish the rights of people and mislead their prosperity. Verily, this is the unjust happening to the people of Palestine. The injustice has created chaos across Palestine and the world which has really destroyed peace and harmony. Despite age and gender, everyone is being bombarded and killed through weapons in Palestine. It is all the way clear that the country of Israel is mistreating innocent lives through its power.

The Prophet (SAW) said about those who oppress people and deprive them of their due rights,

“Allah would punish those who torment people in this world (without any genuine reason).”

(Muslim, Hadith: 2613)

Injustice brings horrific consequences and the one who does unjust things will not be judged only on the Day of Resurrection, but Allah (SWT) will return their wrongdoing from this world.

Abu Bakrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said:

“There is no sin more worthy of Allah hastening the punishment upon its practitioner in the world – along with what is in store for him in the Hereafter – than tyranny and severing the ties of kinship.”

(Sahih) (Jami at Tirmidhi Hadith 2511)

Prayers of the oppressed people

The prayers of the oppressed will never fail and reach directly to the Almighty without any veil. Abu Hurairah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (SAW) said:

“There are three whose supplication is not rejected: The fasting person when he breaks his fast, the just leader, and the supplication of the oppressed person; Allah raises it above the clouds and opens the gates of heaven to it. And the Lord says: ‘By My might, I shall surely aid you, even if it should be after a while.”

(Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3598)

May Allah Almighty protect us from the oppressors, help the nation of Palestine so that they could live in the state of freedom. May our Creator save us from the curse of the oppressed. Ameen!
