Almighty Allah is really kind and merciful to His creatures. He blesses us in infinite ways that even we could not imagine.

Here are some of the benefits of Istighfar from the Holy Qur’an through which a person can receive the mercy of Allah(SWT).

1. Istighfar brings the Mercy of Allah(SWT) in numerous ways

Allah (SWT) says in the Holy Quran: “Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.” (Quran, 71:10)

2. Forgiveness is one of the traits of Allah

Almighty Allah sends rain down when He forgives His creation. In the Holy Quran, Allah (SWT) says: “He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers” (Quran, 71:11).

3. Forgiveness leads to barkah in wealth and children

The Holy Qur’an says. “…And give you increase in wealth and children.”(Quran, 71:12)

4.  The promise of Rewards

Allah Almighty says to seek repentance and promises to reward us with gardens, rivers, and bounties of Heaven. The rewards are not only bound to Heaven but Allah also gives us fruits in the worldly life.

“… and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.” (Quran, 71:12)

5. Strength by Istighfar

We have to do Istighfar frequently as Allah gives strength and courage to whoever does repentance. If we are struggling with heartbreak and hard times then doing Astaghfar will give us satisfaction and peace to hearts.

Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran: “…ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in showers and increase you in strength [added] to your strength.” (Quran, 11:52)

Seeking forgiveness and doing Istighfar leads you to great mercy. The Holy Quran mentions, “Seek forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him, [and] He will let you enjoy a good provision for a specified term and give every doer of favor His favor.” (Quran, 11:3)

6. People who repent with an honest heart will not be punished

Allah (SWT) says in the Holy Quran: “And Allah would not punish them while they seek forgiveness.”(Quran, 8:33)

7.  Repentance and its bounties

Highlighting the fruits of repentance, here is another verse from the Holy Quran that states:

“But surely the righteous will be in the midst of gardens and springs, receiving what the Lord will give them; for they used to do good before that. They used to sleep but a little of the night, and at the dawn of the day they sought forgiveness… (Quran, 51:16-19)
