We all face difficult situations in our lives and somehow we often don’t find a way out. Duas to recite in difficulty are the form of great blessings given by our Creator. In a hopeless situation, the only hope is Almighty Allah and in the remembrance of Allah, we find peace. Duas to recite in difficulty or illness
Dua 1
It is the verse of the Holy Quran and one should recite the following dua when facing any difficulty or any uncomforting times.
“Allah is sufficient for us and He is the Best Guardian”.
Al Quran 3:173
Dua 2
One of the comprehensive duas from Sahih Al Bukhari is Hadith number 7/158 to recite in grief and sadness.
O Allah, I seek refuge in you from grief and sadness, from weakness and from laziness, from miserliness and from cowardice, from being overcome by debt and overpowered by men (i.e. others).
Dua 3
The following dua is from Sahih Bukhari (8/154) and Sahih Muslim (4/2092).
There is none worthy of worship but Allah the Mighty, the Forbearing. There is none worthy of worship but Allah, Lord of the Magnificent Throne. There is none worthy of worship but Allah, Lord of the heavens and Lord of the earth, and Lord of the Noble Throne.
Dua 4
Dua below is recited for difficulties either in exams or any life affairs.
O Allah, I hope for Your mercy. Do not leave me to myself even for the blinking of an eye (i.e. a moment). Correct all of my affairs for me. There is none worthy of worship but You.

This dua was recited by Prophet Yunus (peace be upon him) when he was in the belly of the giant fish.
“There is none worthy of worship but You, glory is to You. Surely, I was among the wrongdoers.”

Dua 6
Dua below appears in different hadith books including Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah. This dua is classified as authentic in Ibn Majah.
Allah, Allah is my Lord. I do not associate anything with Him.
Dua 7
For any sorrow and difficulty of life, recite this dua classified by Ibn Hibban.
Dua 8
When facing uncertainty and hard times in life, we must remember that it is a test from Allah. Instead of complaining, we should remain patient and recite the following dua narrated in Sahih Muslim:
It is the Decree of Allah and He does whatever He wills.
Dua 9
When you face calamity then recite the following dua as it is narrated in Sahih Muslim.
We are from Allah and unto Him, we return. O Allah take me out of my plight and bring to me after it something better.
Dua 10
Everyone faces problems in life so when you see someone else in a problem then be thankful to Almighty Allah for not making us into that situation. The following dua appears in Sahih Tirmidhi and one should recite this dua when seeing other people or loved ones in difficulties. Also, we should make prayers for them so that they get ease and relief soon.
Praise is to Allah Who has spared me what He has afflicted you with and preferred me greatly above much of what He has created.
