3rd Ashra of Ramadan

3rd Ashra of Ramadan Kareem is arriving and with the end of Ramadan quickly approaching, it’s time to start thinking about how you can get ahead and make the most of Ramadan Kareem. Make sure that every moment counts and don’t leave any opportunities to waste!

Our beloved Prophet (SAW) emphasized the significance of the Holy month of Ramadan Kareem specifically the last part of it. He devoted himself completely to all prayer fardh and nawafil and other forms of worship during the last 10 days of Ramadan. He highlighted the significance of Laylatul Qadr and recommended Ummah to search it in the last 10 nights of the Holy Month.

One of the hadiths highlights the routine of the Holy Prophet (SAW):

“Allah’s Messenger used to exert himself in devotion during the last ten nights to a greater extent than at any other time”

(Muslim)

Every moment counts to worship and please Almighty Allah rightly. We all need to do efforts to make the most of the 3rd Ashra of Ramadan by praying, performing good deeds, reciting the Quran, doing dhikr, and making dua so that our rewards could be multiplied.

Let us take a look at the deeds through which we can grab maximum blessings in the remaining duration of this blessed month.

Increase Quran Recitation:

Along with fasting, do Quran recitation in abundance as the recitation of every word brings infinite rewards as compared to normal days. Ramadan Kareem doubles the rewards for every task we do from a sincere heart. On Judgment day,  Quran will intercede for a person.

Quran reflection

Here is a Hadith that states about fasting and Quran recitation:

Fasting will say, ‘O Lord, I deprived him of his food and his desires during the day, so let me intercede for him.’ And the Quran will say: ‘I deprived him of his sleep at night so let me intercede for him.’ Then they will intercede.”

(Saheeh Al-Jami)

Indeed, Allah (SWT) increases rewards for every deed performed in Ramadan Kareem, especially in 3rd Ashra. So try to make a schedule to increase Quran recitation on daily basis.

Try to Observe Itikaf:

Our Prophet Muhammad (SAW) observed Itikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan and it is considered a great Sunnah. Itikaf is a form of worship in which our Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would go into seclusion and do the worship in the last ten days and nights with no or less human interaction. It is the best ibadah that one can do in peace without any hindrances of the environment. Through this ibadah, Allah forgives and bestows blessings to the seeker. These are all precious moments that we should not waste in worldly affairs.

Do Excessive Dhikr:

Along with fasting and Quran recitation, do excessive dhikr of Allah in the 3rd Ashra of Ramadan. Recite duas whatever comes to your mind, it can be tasbeeh, Ayat ul Kursi, Surah Fateha, or any other dua you remember. Indeed Ramadan is the month of purifying hearts and souls and a beautiful time to get closer to the Almighty Allah. Perform voluntary prayers, Taraweeh, and focus on the meaning of the verses of the Holy Quran that will make you remember Almighty Allah.

Find Lailatul Qadr:

We have been ordered to find Laylat ul Qadr in the odd nights of 3rd Ashra of Ramadan Kareem. Laylatul Qadr is the most merciful and blessed night of the year and it is the night in which the Quran was revealed to our Prophet Muhammad (SAW). In this night, Allah (SWT) rewards His creation infinitely and this night is better than a thousand nights. Thus, make sure to spend these odd nights and last ashra in sincere prayer and worship so that there is a possibility that you will find Laylatul Qadr and grasp its rewards and endless virtues.

The Prophet (SAW) said:

“All past sins are forgiven to those who spend the night in the vigil of Destiny with devout faith and hope of reward.”

(Muslim)

Seek Protection from Hellfire

Last Ashra of Ramdan is about seeking “protection from hellfire”. So make sure to recite dua of the 3rd Ashra of Ramadan that is,

اَللَّهُمَّ أَجِرْنِي مِنَ النَّارِ

Translation: “O Allah! Save me from the Hell-Fire.”

May Allah forgive all our sins and wrongdoings and enable us to please Him well.

These were some of the points through which you can plan your 3rd Ashra schedule of deeds and reap greater rewards. How is your Ramadan Kareem going and how are you planning to spend the 3rd Ashra of Ramadan Kareem? Do share with us. We would love to hear your thoughts. JazakAllah!
